Welcome to our school’s web site.
The staff and I would like to take this opportunity to introduce you and your family to Warrnambool West Primary School. We encourage all parents to play an active role in their children's schooling.
We have a very strong emphasis on Literacy and Numeracy. We run a wide variety of excellent specialist and intervention programs including Physical Education, Reading Recovery, Literacy Intervention,Wannick Tutorial Program and English as a Second Language.
All our children are encouraged to do their best and we work to ensure that children fulfil their potential in partnership with parents.
The school runs a number of excellent programs to assist students deal with issues, including the “Learn to Learn” program and the “You Can Do It” program. We have exceptionally successful buddy programs operating across the school, and place a high emphasis on Physical Education and Sport.
We strongly encourage parental involvement in our school. This can take many forms: classroom helpers, School Council membership, Council sub-committee membership and fundraising to name a few. We will be running training sessions for parents wishing to assist in classrooms.
We believe in open communication between parents and teaching staff and we do our best to prepare children for change and to expose them to the challenges of 21st Century living. We are proud of the work that we do and we have a warm, inviting and respectful atmosphere in every classroom.

Harmony Day is celebrated around Australia on 21 March each year. It's a day when all Australians celebrate our cultural diversity.
The continuing message for Harmony Day in 2012 is that Everyone Belongs, which means all Australians are a welcome part of our country, regardless of their background. It's a time to reflect on where Australia has come from, recognising the traditional owners of this land. It's also about community participation, inclusiveness and respect – celebrating the different cultures that make Australia a great place to live.
We have a very diverse range of backgrounds at Warrnambool West Primary School and we are celebrating Harmony Day in number of ways.
Rooms 12 and 13 have invited parents from a range of nationalities to come and make a traditional dish and explain to the students about their backgrounds.
