Breakfast Club

At Warrnambool West Primary School we believe that ‘breakfast is the most important meal of the day’.  We want our students to be ready to start each brand new day of learning with full stomachs and happy, active minds.

A lot of recent research has shown that ‘attentiveness in the classroom can be a key indicator that a child has had breakfast….’   In fact, a recent nationwide survey, relating to student connectedness in the classroom, of 1000 Primary and Secondary Teachers, revealed that:

  • 96% of teachers say students who eat breakfast pay more attention.
  • 88% of teachers say that students who eat breakfast perform better at school.
  • 79% of teachers say that students who eat breakfast are more interested in learning than those who don’t.

Here at Warrnambool West Primary School we offer a healthy, nutritious free breakfast to all of our students five days a week.

Where:  In the Library

Days:  Monday-Friday

Time:   8:30-8:55am

Some of the foods on offer to our students include:

  • A selection of fresh cut fruit
  • Fruit juices and milk
  • A selection of cereal
  • Toast and spreads

We have a wonderful dedicated group of parents, volunteers and staff who organise, resource, supervise and serve our Breakfast Club. We couldn’t provide this valuable program without all of their assistance. Warrnambool and District Food Share must also be thanked for their continued support of our Breakfast Club.  They are amazing!

Students enjoy eating and socialising (with teachers too) during our Breakfast Club program. Table manners, positive behaviours and basic food eating etiquette are reinforced during Breakfast eating times.

After a yummy nutritious breaky at Breakfast Club, our students are ‘ready to start the day right!
