At Warrnambool West, every student accesses a full specialist program from Foundation through to Year 6. Our specialists work alongside classroom teachers to deepen and enrich what students are learning, connecting specialist content to our broader Inquiry Learning units where it makes sense to do so.
STEM
At Warrnambool West, STEM is hands-on, curiosity-driven and built around real problems. Students explore biological, chemical, physical and Earth and Space sciences, and then go further, applying technology, engineering and mathematics to investigate and solve challenges in the world around them.
Rather than teaching these disciplines in isolation, our STEM program brings them together the way they show up in real life. Students ask good questions, think critically, build and test ideas, and aren't afraid to have a go.
Visual Arts

From Foundation to Year 6, Visual Arts enables students to develop their creative and expressive capacities. Our Art program enriches students' understandings of multi-modal representations and materials and explore mediums and techniques for aesthetic and personal preferences. Students are encouraged to create work that communicates to others and to express themselves. Units of work are designed to capture celebrations, culture and traditions in an inclusive and resp
ectful manner.
Music
Our music program excites the imagination and encourages students to reach their expressive and creative potential through music. The instruments provided adds to the value and appreciation of music and develops students' skills and techniques.
Physical Education

At Warrnambool West, PE is about more than sport. From Foundation through to Year 6, every student develops the movement skills, confidence and love of activity that sets them up for a healthy, active life.
Our program meets students where they are. In the early years, that means building Fundamental Movement Skills through purposeful, play-based activities. In the middle years, students transition to a game sense approach, using modified games to develop tactical thinking alongside physical skill. By Years 5 and 6, students are applying those skills to major sports and games, making decisions and reading play.
We believe every child deserves to feel capable and included in PE, regardless of their starting point.
